The Lazy Man's Diet
72
The lazy man’s diet is possibly the ultimate Low-Fat, Low-Carb Diet.
Low fat and low carb diets all run off the same principal; the body takes the excess starches and sugars and saturated fats that we eat and converts them to that ugly bulging waist line that we all seem to be caring around lately. And so by eliminating those items from our diet, we force the body to use that fat as energy in order to survive.
By going on a prolonged modified fast which is pretty much what the lazy mans diet is you reduce your consumption of fats and carbohydrates to its lowest possible levels, there by gaining the greatest possible benefits. But that sounds all so scientific, and the lazy man’s diet is all about ease, and doing less, and getting more. It’s about being lazy and still losing weight.
I should start out by stating that this diet will not cure your addition with food, it will not turn you into Mr. six pack muscle man or Miss Universe, and it will not solve all the complex reasons why you became fat in the first place. It is meant to do one thing; help you lose the weight which is keeping you from being active and is endangering your health. And of course before starting any weight loss program you should get yourself checked out by a medical professional, and make sure all your organs and such are working properly, and if during the fast you notice anything happen that is unusual for you get yourself checked out immediately, always be safe.
OK I started this diet when I was 510lbs, and the only time I ever got out of bed was to get something to eat and take a bowel movement. By eliminating solid food from my diet, I literally reduced my physical activity by 60%, talk about being lazy. I didn’t have to worry about calories or points or food combinations, and as long as I remembered to take my supplements, I didn’t feel hungry or weak or tired, and as I started to lose the weight I wanted to move around more, get out of the house, even do some light exercise, (I know that’s a bad word, let just say play around with some toys). In 3 months I lost more than 100lbs, I’ve taken a few weeks break but am now ready to start back up again, and I expect to lose 100lbs more.
So what does this so called lazy man’s diet consist of and how do I follow it?
As I stated before it’s a modified fast, you eliminate solid food from your diet, and exist on fruit and vegetable juices, soy milk, and supplementing your nutritional need with protein and vitamins and minerals. I suggest that you go out to eat once a week, in order to keep yourself motivated and give yourself something to look forward to. And I encourage you to drink as much water as possible (well within reason) to help keep everything flowing properly.
The USDA suggests that you get 50 to 65 grams of protein a day, 100% of all the essential vitamins and minerals and 25 grams of fiber, and so the goal of a modified fast is to get these essential elements into your diet while reducing your caloric intake to its absolute minimal levels, while maintaining your health and vitality. Now your body chemistry might be different from mine as well as your physical activities so some tweaking as far as how much you consume might be required for every individual. I found that it was almost impossible to exist on less then 500 calories a day and it was more like 700 to 800 when I added everything up, which is similar to some extreme diets that some doctors put people on.
I usually consume 3 glasses of high protein soy milk (11gram a 8 oz serving), 2 glasses of vegetable blend juice and at least one glass of 100% fruit juice. (you can of course substitute anyone of the number of meal replacement milk shakes for the soy milk but watch out they usually have 250 calories for each glass and sometimes even more.)
I take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement every day, as well as a potassium supplement 3 or 4 times a day. And I take protein 5 or 6 times a day. (the first time I did this fast back in the 70’s I took a whey based protein supplement which worked fine this time I’ve been taking chlorella which seems to be working just as well and I don’t get as much white coating on my tongue.) I did add some fish oil to my diet about half way through, because I was craving fish every time I had my meal out, and my research suggested that the omega fats actually help you reduce your weight faster. I don’t know if I can contribute any of my weight loss from that but it didn’t seem to hurt and it stopped my cravings.
I have to admit that occasionally I had one of those Progesso light soups (60 calories a serving) but you really have to watch your sodium levels with processed foods. But for the most part I stayed true to the diet. The first 3 days of any fast are the hardest, past that it just gets boring. Occasionally spice up your veggie juice with hot sauce and cayenne pepper, switch up your fruit juices, try some chocolate soy milk or hazelnut is yummy and of course you always have that one meal out to look forward too.
I’ve done this fast twice and lost over 100lbs each time, which is pretty remarkable for 90 short days. I still have a lot to go, and it will probably take a little longer, all the easy fat is gone now I have to now work on the harder fat, don’t ask me why its just the way of life. But I have no doubts that I will succeed and I know all of you can to no matter which diet you choose. Keep with it, stay positive, and have fun.
Stay healthy, stay safe, and as always
Peace

Thanks for your article. My spouse and i have always observed that a majority of people are wanting to lose weight simply because wish to show up slim and attractive. Having said that, they do not always realize that there are more benefits to losing weight as well. Doctors say that obese people come across a variety of health conditions that can be instantly attributed to their excess weight. Thankfully that people who're overweight and suffering from several diseases are able to reduce the severity of their own illnesses by simply losing weight. It is easy to see a constant but identifiable improvement with health if even a small amount of weight reduction is achieved.
