The Delicate Balence of Fasting

Day 55 of my fast, Day one of the rest of my life

I started this whole thing using a program which I developed some 30 years ago, I didn’t really have to think about it to much I knew it worked for me before, so I just went with it. But the longer I’m on the program the more I’m amazed by its simplicity and its effectiveness. ( I must have been a genius back then, … I know a little over the top, but I have to make myself feel good sometimes) (back to the point)

As you might remember a week or so ago I was toying with the idea of adding a little bit of raw vegetables to my diet, mainly because I hated the concept of throwing away all that good fiber when I was juicing my veggies. And so for the last week or so I’ve been experimenting with chomping on a carrot, or a small piece of broccoli, or a few leaves of raw spinach, (the three major super foods I wanted to add to my nutrition) every now and then. And for the most part I’m happy with having the nutrients of those super foods, in fact my eye sight started to improve, which was something that was starting to worry me, because I’m presently wearing a broken pair of glasses, who’s prescription is about 5 years old, but because of my financial situation that’s just a luxury I can’t afford to deal with at this time. Anyway eating the carrots actually helped my vision. (so it does work folks).

But the problem with having that little bit of solid food, is that, it actually made me feel more hungry. So I’m dealing with a very delicate balance here, I mean it hasn’t been that bad, occasionally I would cheat, with a few more mouth full’s of spinach than I wanted to. But I keep coming back to the original diet, it has been so fantastic, because I have not felt hungry, or week, or have any loss of energy.

What I did, back 30 years ago was take every negative comment I could find about fasting and fix them. People would talk about the lack of protein and how it could damage your organs, so I take protein, people would talk about how there digestive system would dry up or how an excess of stomach acid would build up, so I eat once a week, and I do a juice fast instead of a water fast, that way I get lots of nutrients, and my digestive system keeps working. The only thing I’m unsure of is; the slowing down of my metabolism, (there’s not a lot of scientific studies out there, dealing with fasting, for some reason food companies are not interested in financing studies about not eating there product, go figure.) so how much damage I’m actually doing to it, how long it takes to repair, what I can actually do to improve it, I’m not really sure. I know exercise help it, and I keep reading articles here and there about metabolism, and if any of you know of places I might look please pass it along. But the diet / fast continues’ to work. I wish I could tell you a number as to how much I’ve lost (but the whole scale thing, … you know) But I can tell you that I’ve gone down 2 sizes, my skin it starting to wrinkle in places it never had before, and that I’m feeling better and more energetic than I’ve felt in years. I’m not ready for the big reveal yet, I will do that in another month or so, but until then I keep fighting the good fight, and I hope you all are doing the same.

So Peace, and Love, and a little bit of Happiness, to you all.

Thank you sir. As you know, I'm on a life-time diet as well.
